Prepping A Boat for Summer
The state of Michigan, being surrounded by the Great Lakes, has wonderful summer months that are ideal for outdoor activities, for instance boating. Many residents of the state possess a boat that they bring out to one of the lakes every summer.
Before taking that very first adventure out on the lake, it is important to de-winterize your boat. To get started, check the oil and change the oil filter if needed. Second, inspect the battery for corrosion and make sure it is charged. Check lights on the boat along with other electronics too to make sure they are in excellent working condition. After these inspections, check the engine and look over other mechanical elements, including belts, hoses, spark plugs, the fuel system, the distributor, and so on. Ensure the outboard motor is working properly also.
Besides the boat itself, inspect life jackets along with other safety gear. Look out for rips and other imperfections that could have accumulated over the winter season. It is further important to possess a working fire extinguisher on the boat. Test all the other boating gear for safety too, for instance tubes and skis. Look for holes and ensure that inflatable equipment do not have any leaks.
When these inspections have been finalized, give the boat a once over looking for any damage that could have occurred over the winter. If everything looks good, start preparing the boat trailer for hauling, gas up and head to the lake.
The summer time in the state of Michigan is gorgeous. The Great Lakes provide beautiful beaches with stunning views. The sunset over the lake is something not to be missed during the summertime. Check your boat and properly de-winterize it to get ready for this time of the year. Make sure all electronic and mechanical components are working, replace any outboard motor parts needed and inspect safety and recreational gear. When this checklist has been completed, summer boating can start.
